Philippines, otherwise known as the “Pearl of the Orient Seas”, is a nation formed by an amazing count of 7,107 islands which is home to 68 million people. It has total land area of 307,055 sq. km spanning 1,840 km from north to south and 1,100 km from east to west with so many varieties of Philippine tourist spots with boundless treasures and unforgettable experiences.
Luzon, being the largest island group in the Philippines has Manila as its heart, with its famous sunset at the Baywalk along Roxas Boulevard’s refreshing sea breeze where the city shifts into slow motion as its sounds vibrates into the rhythmic beat of its waves. Also in this island group is Legaspi City, where the majestic Mt. Mayon lies, known to be the most beautiful volcano in the world because of its near perfect cone shape with it is Mayon Volcano Natural Park which has the volcano as its centrepiece with the belfry Cagsawa Church that’s been buried during the volcano’s eruption in 1814, serving as a reminder of nature’s absolute power over mankind. Laoag is another place in Luzon, which serves as the home to the Giant windmills along its shores while centuries-old houses and churches fill her landscape stretching all the way to Vigan in Ilocos Sur which is a picturesque city that threads the future with the past and is now in the World Heritage list. To name more, we have Sagada which used to be one of the Eight Wonders of the World and Palawan which is considered to be one of the last unexplored islands in the Pacific and on it is St Paul Subterranean River and now protected as a World Heritage Site.
The second largest island group at the southernmost of the country is an oddly shaped island named Mindanao with its landscape dominated by mountain chains running from north to south. Apart from being one of the richest islands in terms of natural resources because of its vast iron reserves, Mindanao is also rich in offering many attractive tourist spots such as Davao which is a province named one of the "25 best destinations" by the Philippine Tourism Board and marked with predominantly mountainous region with rolling hills and fertile valleys. Due to its rich texture of culture, history and tradition, Davao has become one of the most enchanting and popular destinations among tourists and a must among the places to visit in the Philippines. While Cagayan de Oro on the other hand is the capital of Misamis Oriental Province cradled between the gentle waters of Macabalan Bay and the ancient mountains of Mindanao's interior, this old coastal settlement is the normal jumping-off point for the start of an exciting adventure and the gateway to the volcanic island of Camiguin.
The most popularly known island for most travellers is Visayas. A tightly packed island group made up of seven major islands of Negros, Panay, Cebu, Bohol, Leyte, Samar and Masbate with each and every island a treasure site on their own. Like Cebu which is the oldest city in the Philippines and the Queen City of the South where visitors find contentment in its office buildings and beach resorts. You can find the malls, office buildings, museums, theaters and monuments at Colon Street, the oldest street in the Philippines. Aside from that, the oldest fortress in the country which is Fort Santiago Pedro, the Liloan Lighthouse and Bantayan sa Hari is also here. Countless pristine rainforests that have become a haven for wildlife and an ideal place for a perfect picnic. There is still the more popular 15,393-hectare Central Cebu National Park, the Cawasan Falls, the 696-hectare Sudlon National Park as well as the Balok-Balok Mineral Springs. While moving away from the increasing sophistication of the city of Cebu is Boracay. This butterfly shaped island in the northwest tip of Panay is a paradise for many sun-worshippers from all over the world. The thousand-hectare area of Boracay is laced with flowering plants and tropical palms grazed with sugar-fine white sand and crystal blue waters swimming with exotic marine life. Boracay used to be the country's secret haven but now is the hotchpotch for many beach lovers and sun-worshippers as words spread like wildfire about this paradise on earth, and made it the best among the places to visit in the Philippines.
